University of Phoenix Campus Operations Specialist in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
The primary responsibility of this role is to assist students by offering services and support which will help students achieve academic and career success. Under minimal supervision, this position is accountable for student/external customer interaction, problem-solving, and successfully facilitating resolution to service related issues and needs.
Supports local career achievement services and outcomes through the career guidance system and students’ personal career plans.Tailors advice and guidance that the student can utilize. Reinforces positive success skills and characteristics, such as diligence, perseverance and critical thinking, to help learners reach both graduation and career/life goals.
Assimilates the student through the classroom experience via follow up and coordination with team members. This includes working in a team environment and providing feedback to the appropriate University team to enhance the student experience.
Monitors and identifies common student inquiry issues and presents these findings to management. May also participate in organizational committees to identify ways to resolve common student inquiry issues and assess service quality and satisfaction. May log and track incoming and outgoing student traffic volume data and trends for management, following established departmental guidelines and procedures.
Provides students with information about resource centers, as necessary. Connects with students by phone or face to face to discuss special topics and training as well as provide accurate, appropriate and current resources to students.
May assist with room rental clients and other campus needs including Student Resource Center coverage and facility maintenance.
Assists in the development, coordination, and execution of student and alumni networking opportunities and student and faculty appreciation messages and events.
Assists in the development, coordination, and execution of community engagement opportunities.
May be responsible for planning and managing campus internal and external events. May be required to attend offsite events.
May be responsible for proctoring testing activities for University of Phoenix students and students from other colleges and universities.
Plans, coordinates, and attends activities related to local and regional commencement ceremonies. May include travel to regional ceremonies based on need.
Serves as a workshop facilitator for Phoenix-provided tools and resources.
Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Psychology or related field
Two years of experience in education, counseling, staffing, student or social services, training, development, or a related area
Two years of experience in a customer-facing role
Experience mentoring junior staff (supervisory or lead experience preferred)
Ability to navigate software and provide basic IT support
Experience in conflict resolution and general advisement
Experience leading, communicating, persuading and/or interacting effectively with others in difficult situations
Experience prioritizing and performing multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to convey a professional image and maintain positive, professional and helpful interactions with students, staff, faculty, and external customers
Ability to acquire and utilize a sound knowledge of the university’s information systems, as well as fundamental knowledge of university services, resources, and products
Ability and willingness to proactively make outgoing calls and receive incoming calls, to support students with the appropriate resources to successfully impact student retention and career achievement outcomes
