The Manager Alumni Connections provides is responsible for connecting alumni throughout the alumni body, as well as through smaller community subsets as part of the overall alumni engagement component of the Phoenix For Life program. The mission of the Career Services and Alumni Engagement department is to provide career growth partnership, connections and personal growth benefits to students and alumni for life.


Leadership :

  • Provide critical execution of the Alumni Engagement program through the role of the alumni connection opportunities.

  • Create and implement a comprehensive process to connect alumni through networking, database, social media, in-person events and various opportunities both globally throughout the alumni network and in smaller communities of alumni with common ground.

  • Partner with Ground campus leadership to support and implement alumni connection initiatives.

  • Work with Marketing department leadership to support overall goals and objectives, and bring success to all divisions of the Marketing team.

  • Provide reporting and tracking of alumni connection initiative measurements.

Alumni Connection Process:

  • Planning and implementation of programs and projects that connect alumni through virtual and in-person opportunities.

  • Manage the alumni network database and provide opportunities for alumni to connect through the database as they desire.

  • Identify and support subsets of alumni with common ground who want to connect and support each other (i.e., geographic location, industry, military, women in technology, etc.).

  • Help design, implement and manage alumni connection programming and events both virtually and in-person.

  • Support the University’s Homecoming celebrations in collaboration with the University Events team.

  • Provide support for the New Alumni transition process, including Commencement receptions, communications, and occupation-specific programming.

  • Work closely with the University Events team and ground campus leadership to successfully deploy alumni connection events.

  • Support the alumni “Give Back” program, including mentoring, community service volunteering, speakers bureau, and similar programs.

  • Educate on and promote the Phoenix For Life concept and offerings through alumni chapter leadership and processes.

  • Support alumni CRM processes to coordinate alumni interaction throughout the university.

  • Support alumni network connections, both globally and in smaller communities, through online and in-person infrastructure.


Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline plus a minimum of two years of experience in alumni relations or related discipline.

Additional Requirements :

  • Demonstrated ability in fostering productive relationships with volunteers and developing volunteer leadership.

  • Demonstrated deep knowledge and experience in creating networking opportunities, connecting people and organizing infrastructure around alumni connection.

  • Possess a dynamic, professional demeanor with exceptional organization, written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple internal and external functions.

  • Ability to oversee multiple tasks with attention to detail, and a motivated/enthusiastic work style.

  • Ability to work accurately and with a good attitude in a fast-paced environment with a broad range of internal and external constituents.

  • Exceptional ability to work in managing data and databases, creating tracking and reporting processes, and capturing detail as relevant to need.
